How it works

This test page generates a set of diagnostic patterns you can print to verify your printer is working correctly. It includes color blocks to check ink cartridges, a grayscale gradient for tonal accuracy, text samples at multiple sizes to verify rendering, an alignment box with crosshairs, and fine lines to test resolution.

Everything renders in your browser using HTML and CSS. The print stylesheet hides the navigation and controls so only the test patterns appear on paper. No data is sent to a server.

Frequently asked questions

Why don't the colors or shaded boxes appear when I print?

Most browsers strip background graphics by default to save ink. In the print dialog, open "More settings" and turn on "Background graphics" (Chrome) or "Print backgrounds" (Firefox and Safari), then print again. The color and grayscale blocks rely on that setting.

The patterns print off-center or get cut off. What should I change?

Set the print scale to 100% and avoid "Fit to page", which shrinks the layout and shifts the alignment box. Also set margins to Default or None so the corner marks and crosshairs land where expected on the sheet.

What should the grayscale strip look like on a good print?

You should see ten clearly separate steps from white to solid black. If the darkest few boxes blend together or you see visible banding, that usually points to low toner or ink, or a printer that needs calibration.

Can the color blocks show a clogged inkjet nozzle?

A missing or faded color, or streaks across the solid blocks, is a strong hint that a nozzle is clogged or a cartridge is empty. For a precise diagnosis, run the nozzle check and head-cleaning routine built into your printer's own software.
