How it works

The Pomodoro Technique helps you focus by breaking work into 25-minute sessions separated by short breaks. After four focus sessions, take a longer 15-minute break. This timer handles the countdown and plays a notification sound when each session ends.

Everything runs locally in your browser. No data is sent to a server, and nothing is tracked or stored. Works on mobile and desktop.

Frequently asked questions

Does the timer stay accurate if I switch tabs or lock my phone?

Yes. It reads the actual wall clock rather than counting ticks, so a session finishes at the right moment even after a background tab is throttled. When you return, the display re-syncs immediately and any chime that came due while you were away fires then.

When does the long break happen?

Every fourth completed focus session triggers the 15-minute long break; the other three lead into a 5-minute short break. Only focus sessions count toward the total shown below the timer.

Why didn't I hear the sound or see a notification?

The chime needs one Start tap first so the browser can unlock audio, and desktop notifications only appear if you grant permission when prompted. Some phones also stay silent while muted or when the tab is fully closed rather than backgrounded.

Are my completed sessions saved if I reload the page?

No. The session counter and current timer live only in memory, so reloading or closing the tab resets everything to a fresh 25-minute focus block. This keeps the tool fully private with nothing written to your device.
